MultiCare's hospitals, programs and services are accredited by many national health care organizations

MultiCare hospitals, home health and hospice services are accredited by The Joint Commission. This accreditation is a nationwide seal of approval indicating that we meet high performance standards related to the quality and safety of our patient care.

Many national agencies and health care-related organizations have also recognized MultiCare facilities, services and programs for their commitment to excellence. We invite you to learn more about these achievements below.

2024

  • MultiCare Allenmore Hospital and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification.
  • MultiCare Deaconess Hospital, MultiCare Capital Medical Center and MultiCare Covington Medical Center earned an “A” safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that sets standards for excellence in patient care. This is the second consecutive A grade for Deaconess Hospital.
  • MultiCare Covington Medical Center was named the most socially responsible hospital in Washington by the Lown Institute.
  • Several MultiCare hospitals received the American Heart Association’s Get With the Guidelines awards in 2024, demonstrating our commitment to implementing a high standard of care and following evidence-based guidelines.
    • MultiCare Allenmore Hospital, MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Deaconess Hospital, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, and MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital all received the Stroke Gold Plus Quality Award.
    • MultiCare Covington Medical Center received the Stroke Silver Plus Quality Award.
    • MultiCare Deaconess Hospital received the Resuscitation Silver Quality Award.
    • MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital received the Resuscitation Gold Quality Award.

2023

  • Several MultiCare hospitals received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With the Guidelines awards in 2023, demonstrating our commitment to implementing a high standard of care and following evidence-based guidelines.
    • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, MultiCare Allenmore Hospital, MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare Deaconess Hospital all received the Stroke Gold Plus Quality Award.
  • MultiCare was recognized by the American Medical Association as a Joy in Medicine™ organization.
  • MultiCare Health System’s RN Transition to Practice Program was accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
  • MultiCare received its 15th consecutive Most Wired health award from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
  • MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital was one of eight recipients awarded Top Children’s Hospital status by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital rating organization.
  • MultiCare Deaconess Hospital earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for patient care during fall 2023 from The Leapfrog Group.
  • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center ranked #1 in Washington state on the Lown Institute Hospitals Index.
  • In The Olympian’s Best of South Sound poll, Indigo Urgent Care was awarded gold for Best Urgent Care/Walk-in Clinic; Mary Bridge Children’s Urgent Care received bronze for Best Urgent Care/Walk-in Clinic; MultiCare Capital Women’s Health was awarded silver for Best Women’s Clinic; and MultiCare Capital Medical Center received bronze for Best Hospital and Best Medical Facility.
  • Seattle Magazine honored more than 50 MultiCare doctors in the 23rd annual Top Doctors
  • Indigo Urgent Care won gold for Best Urgent Care/Walk-in Clinic in The Seattle Times’ Best in the PNW People’s Choice Awards.
  • MultiCare was voted Best Health Care Services and Best Hospital Care in ShowCase Magazine’s Best of 2023.

2022

  • Several MultiCare hospitals received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s “Get With the Guidelines” awards in 2022, demonstrating our commitment to implementing a high standard of care and following evidence-based guidelines.
    • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Covington Hospital, MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare Deaconess Hospital all received the Stroke Gold Plus Quality Award.
  • The Multiple Sclerosis team at the MultiCare Neuroscience Center of Washington, a leading provider of care for people with MS in the South Sound, holds the designation of Comprehensive MS Care Center from the National MS Society’s Partners in MS Care program. The center was given this distinction by demonstrating exceptional MS care through their expertise, experience and dedication to treating MS, as well as a strong relationship with the MS Society.
  • MultiCare Allenmore Hospital and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital became Joint Commission Certified for the Hip & Knee Replacement Program. This demonstrates our commitment to high quality patient care following evidence-based guidelines and continuous performance improvement.

2021

  • Seattle magazine honored Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Network’s George Makari, MD, as one of the region’s best pediatric neurologists in its 21st annual “Top Doctors” list.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was voted “Best Hospital” in South Sound magazine’s “Best of the South Sound” annual reader poll. The hospital has received this award eight years in a row.
  • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital received the American College of Cardiology Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award. MultiCare Deaconess Hospital received the American College of Cardiology Chest Pain-MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award.
  • Several MultiCare hospitals received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s “Get With the Guidelines” awards in 2021, demonstrating our commitment to implementing a high standard of care and following evidence-based guidelines.

    • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center received the Target: Stroke Honor Roll status.
    • MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital received the Target: Stroke Honor Roll-Elite status.
    • MultiCare Deaconess Hospital received the Target: Stroke Honor Roll-Elite Plus status.
    • Good Samaritan is designated as a Certified Primary Stroke Center by DNV GL – Healthcare.
    • Tacoma General is also the first hospital in the South Sound to be designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by DNV GL – Healthcare, reflecting the highest level of competence for treating serious stroke events.
  • The Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) recognized MultiCare Regional Cancer Center in Auburn with the WSMA William O. Robertson, MD, Patient Safety Award, which celebrates innovative patient safety initiatives in ambulatory care settings.

2020

  • IBM Watson Health designated MultiCare Pulse Heart Institute at Tacoma General Hospital as one of the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals in the United States.
  • MultiCare Deaconess Hospital was the sole recipient in Washington state of the 2020 Excellence in Healthcare ED (Emergency Department) -Throughput-Door to Doctor Time Award from Huron’s Studer Group.
  • Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital earns “Top Children’s Hospital” status from The Leapfrog Group for the third year in a row.
  • MultiCare received the “Most Wired” health award for the 12th year in a row from the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME)
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was certified as a “Comprehensive Stroke Center” by DNV GL-Healthcare. MultiCare Auburn Medical Center and MultiCare Good Samaritan were also certified as “Primary Stroke Centers.”
  • LifeCenter Northwest, an organization that facilitates organ, eye and tissue donations across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, recognized five MultiCare hospitals with awards for excellence in supporting life-saving organ and tissue donations.
  • Pulse Heart Institute at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital was recognized at the annual statewide Clinical Outcomes Assessment Program (COAP) meeting for providing the fastest heart attack care in Eastern Washington and tied for the fastest time in entire state for 2019. The Deaconess Hospital team was also honored at the meeting for being one of four hospitals to receive a 2020 Cardiac Surgery Award for top performance in the state, for having the lowest length of stay for cardiac surgery patients, and for being in the top three hospitals for lowest mortality, blood usage and reoperation.
  • Pulse Heart Institute at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital was honored at the annual statewide COAP meeting for being one of 12 hospitals to receive a 2020 Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Award for top performance in the state.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was named “Best Hospital”  and MultiCare’s New Adventures Children’s Center was named “Best Daycare” by South Sound magazine’s “Best of the South Sound” annual reader poll.
  • MultiCare Indigo Urgent Care’s television ad, “Young Invincibles,” won a Silver Telly Award in the Regional TV, Fitness, Health and Wellness category.
  • Seattle magazine honored Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network’s George Makari, MD, as one of the region’s best pediatric neurologists in its 20th annual “Top Doctors” issue.

2019

  • Pulse Heart Institute at MultiCare Allenmore Hospital was named one of the top 50 cardiovascular hospitals in the United States by IBM Watson Health™
  • For the second year in a row, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital was one of only 10 children’s hospitals in the nation awarded ‘Top Children’s Hospital’ status by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital rating organization.
  • The Washington State Hospital Association awarded MultiCare the 2019 Community Health Leadership Award for its new Oakland High School clinic.
  • MultiCare Valley Hospital was awarded a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). MultiCare Valley Hospital was the only hospital in Eastern Washington to earn the highest overall quality score in 2019.
  • Seattle magazine honored 5 MultiCare doctors in the 19th annual “Top Doctors” issue. The list names 397 best physicians in the Puget Sound region.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was named “Best Hospital” by South Sound magazine’s “Best of the South Sound” annual reader poll.
  • Forbes named MultiCare one of “America’s Best Employers by State,” ranking MultiCare in the top third of 36 Washington-based organizations across all sectors of industry.
  • LifeCenter Northwest, an organization that facilitates organ, eye and tissue donations across the Northwest and Alaska, recognized four MultiCare organizations with awards for efforts in tissue and organ donation.

2018

  • MultiCare was recognized as one of the nation’s “Most Wired” health care organizations for the 10th year in a row.
  • Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital was one of only 13 children’s hospitals nationwide awarded “Top Hospital” status by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization.
  • Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital was recognized as the June 2018 Hospital of the Month for the National Hospital Improvement Innovation Network, Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS).
  • MultiCare Valley Hospital earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement, the first and only hospital in Washington state to earn the designation.
  • MultiCare Deaconess and Valley hospitals both earned a four-star rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was named a recipient of the SightLife Vision Award for exceptional performance as well as demonstrated commitment to cornea donation and advocacy.
  • Seattle magazine honored 9 MultiCare doctors in the 18th annual “Top Doctors” issue. The list names 446 best physicians in the Puget Sound region.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was named “Best Hospital” by South Sound magazine’s “Best of the South Sound” annual reader poll.
  • The MultiCare Institute for Research & Innovation was awarded the 2017 certificate of achievement from one of the nation’s largest clinical research organizations for superior performance and quality in clinical research, IQVIA.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was internationally certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, an independent recognition of the highest level of competence in treating stroke. This designation sets Tacoma General apart as the only hospital in the South Sound to receive certification from DNV GL – Healthcare as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.

2017

  • Facilities from two MultiCare lines were awarded for design excellence in the sixth annual International Interior Design Association Healthcare Interior Design Competition: MultiCare Indigo Urgent Care Clinics were recognized for excellence in the “Ambulatory – Urgent Care Center” category for their design by the Tacoma firm BCRA, Inc. Adolescent Behavioral Health at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital, designed by Clark/Kjos Architects in Portland, OR, was recognized in the “Hospitals – Psychiatric” category.
  • MultiCare is one of the nation’s Most Wired health care organizations for the ninth year in a row, according to a survey released in Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. The survey looked at how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based healthcare in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety, and clinical integration.
  • MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital earned a spot on the 2017-2018 U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospital” list within the state of Washington, tying for 6th in the Seattle metro area and 8th in the state.
  • MultiCare Allenmore Hospital and MultiCare Center for Weight Loss & Wellness have been accredited as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
  • MultiCare Auburn Clinic and MultiCare Tacoma Family Medicine earned an Energy to Care Award by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering for reducing energy by 10 percent or more over the previous year.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was named “Best Hospital” by South Sound magazine’s “Best of the South Sound” annual reader poll.
  • Seattle magazine honored 26 MultiCare doctors in the 17th annual “Top Doctors” issue. The list names 412 best physicians in the Puget Sound region.
  • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and MultiCare Tacoma General/Allenmore hospitals all received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s 2017 “Get With The Guidelines” Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. MultiCare Good Samaritan and MultiCare Tacoma General/Allenmore hospitals also qualified for “Target: Stroke” Honor Roll Elite status.
  • The MultiCare Regional Cancer Center achieved a four-year accreditation from the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx®) for meeting high standards in radiation oncology safety and patient-centered care. MultiCare’s is the first, and currently the only, radiation oncology practice in Western Washington to achieve this distinction.

2016

  • MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital received SightLife’s “Vision Award” for exceptional results in cornea donations for 2016, allowing 216 individuals to receive sight-restoring transplants.
  • MultiCare is one of the nation’s Most Wired health care organizations for the eighth year in a row, according to a survey released in Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. The survey looked at how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based healthcare in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety, and clinical integration.
  • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and MultiCare Tacoma General/Allenmore hospitals all received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s 2016 “Get With The Guidelines” Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. MultiCare Auburn Medical Center and MultiCare Tacoma General/Allenmore hospitals also qualified for “Target: Stroke” Honor Roll status, and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital qualified for “Target: Stroke” Honor Roll Elite status.   • MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital was recognized as a Cribs for Kids National Bronze Certified Safe Sleep Hospital. The Cribs for Kids National Safe Sleep program awards recognition to hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to reducing infant sleep-related deaths by promoting and educating on best safe sleep practices.
  • Seattle magazine honored 16 MultiCare doctors in the 16th annual “Top Doctors” issue. The list names 413 best physicians in the Puget Sound region.
  • MultiCare received a gold WorkWell award from the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber in recognition of our commitment to addressing workforce health issues. As a gold honoree, MultiCare was recognized for implementing workplace changes in three categories: Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Tobacco-Free. MultiCare also received the Happy Heart award for demonstrating a “broad and long-term commitment to employee health and well-being.”
  • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital received the Stage 7 Awards from HIMSS Analytics. The Stage 7 Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement in digital health records — an honor attained by just a small percentage of U.S. hospitals.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was named “Best Hospital” by South Sound magazine’s “Best of the South Sound” annual reader poll.

2015

  • MultiCare is one of the nation’s Most Wired health care organizations for the seventh year in a row, according to a survey released in Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. The survey looked at how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based healthcare in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety, and clinical integration.
  • MultiCare Allenmore Hospital, MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and more than 100 MultiCare clinics received the Stage 7 Awards from HIMSS Analytics. The Stage 7 Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement in digital health records — an honor attained by just a small percentage of U.S. hospitals. Read more.
  • MultiCare is among the top 100 Integrated Delivery Networks as measured by IMS Health. This ranking recognized organizations that are reshaping the way care is provided and treatment decisions are made.
  • Good Samaritan Hospital and Tacoma General Hospital have received full Chest Pain Center accreditation with PCI — the highest level of accreditation available — from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC).
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital received the American Heart Association’s 2015 “Mission: Lifeline” STEMI Receiving Center Silver Plus Award for achieving significant specific quality improvement measures for treating patients experiencing severe heart attacks.
  • Three MultiCare hospitals were recognized in May for providing a high level of stroke care. MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s 2015 “Get With The Guidelines” Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award with “Target: Stroke” Honor Roll status.
  • MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital were recognized for achieving key performance goals in resuscitation with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s 2015 “Get with the Guidelines” Resuscitation Silver Performance Achievement Award.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital received the 2015-2016 Consumer Choice Award, as chosen by local residents surveyed by National Research Corporation. This is the 18th time Tacoma General has received this honor.
  • MultiCare was recognized as a 2014 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. MultiCare was recognized for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for children’s asthma immunizations.
  • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center was named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for 2015 by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States.
  • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center earned the 2015 “Washington State Hospital Association Achieving Best Care” award for its efforts to decrease patient harm.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was named “Best Hospital” by South Sound magazine’s “Best of the South Sound” annual reader poll.

2014

  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was recognized as a “Best Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report. MultiCare Tacoma General ranks No. 11 in Washington state.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital made Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of “100 Hospitals With Great Heart Programs,” based on recognition for quality care, clinical awards and research contributions to cardiovascular care. MultiCare Regional Heart and Vascular Center was praised by Becker’s for opening the first cardiac catheterization lab in the region and for being the first local hospital to use a drug-coated stent.
  • Claire Spain-Remy, MD, was honored at the Women of Color Empowered luncheon in Seattle for women leaders in health care. Dr. Spain-Remy, an obstetrician and gynecologist, is senior vice president of MultiCare Medical Associates.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, both earned the national NCDR ACTION Registry®-GWTGTM Platinum Performance Achievement Award for the high standard of care they provide to heart attack patients.
  • MultiCare’s Pediatric Therapy Services was named a center of excellence by the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association, a national group dedicated to supporting clinical research and patient and family education. MultiCare’s program is the only pediatric therapy facility in the state to receive this designation and one of just three in the country.
  • MultiCare was awarded the WorkWell Gold Award for the 2013 Healthy@Work program and also named a Happy Heart Achievement designee.
  • The Washington State Hospital Association recognized MultiCare hospitals for efforts to reduce hospital-acquired conditions as part of the Partnership for Patients initiative.
  • Three MultiCare hospitals were recognized in April for providing a high level of stroke care. MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital received the 2014 “Get With The Guidelines” Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award.
  • Tacoma General Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital were honored with an “A” Hospital Safety Score by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit organization run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits.
  • MultiCare and Virginia Mason partnered to create the Northwest NCI Community Oncology Research Program and received a $4.2 million, five-year grant from the National Cancer Institute.
  • MultiCare Covington Medical Center was recognized for providing excellent patient care in its emergency department. The firm Studer Group, which works with health care organizations worldwide to improve clinical outcomes, presented the award.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital ranked No. 1 as the region’s preferred choice for health care for the 17th time. The hospital received the 2014-2015 Consumer Choice Award, as chosen by local residents surveyed by National Research Corporation.
  • MultiCare Auburn Medical Center was named the Best Medical Facility in the Sept. 26, 2014 edition of the Auburn Reporter. The hospital received the honor following a community-wide vote by newspaper readers and community members.
  • MultiCare Marketing won for Best Social Networking at the 2014 eHealthcare Leadership Awards, held in November. The award recognized MultiCare’s work on social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Sarah Newport, BSN, RNC, IBCLC, a nurse in Tacoma General’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), was awarded Nurse of the Year Award in the Neonatal Category by the March of Dimes Washington Chapter during the organization’s annual Nurse of the Year Award ceremony.
  • MultiCare is one of the nation’s Most Wired health care organizations for the sixth year in a row, according to a survey released in Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. The survey looked at achievement in clinical quality and safety, in the continuum of care and in technology infrastructure, as well as in business and administrative management. MultiCare is one of the few health systems in the nation to have a complete electronic health record system.
  • MultiCare’s Lois Bernstein, senior vice president of Community Services, was selected as the Business Examiner’s 2014 Women of Influence Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.

2013

  • MultiCare is one of the “100 Integrated Health Systems To Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review. This is the 11th consecutive year that MultiCare has ranked in the Top 100 on the national list of integrated networks.
  • For the fourth time, MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma, Wash., both received an “A” Hospital Safety ScoreSM from The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit that grades hospitals nationwide. The “A” grades were awarded in the latest update of hospital safety scores, and go to the safest hospitals in the country. In the latest rankings, MultiCare’s top rating reflects a commitment to implementing a comprehensive electronic health record, which helps ensure patients get the safest and best care possible. In May, MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Wash., both received an “A” Hospital Safety ScoreSM from The Leapfrog Group.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General, MultiCare Allenmore and MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s hospitals were recognized for outstanding efforts to reduce patient harm and improve patient safety during the 81st Annual Meeting of the Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA) in Seattle. The three Tacoma hospitals were the only hospitals in the South Sound to earn the 2013 “Washington State Hospital Association Safe Care in Action” award. The award honors hospitals for decreasing patient harm in 10 key areas.
  • Heart attack patients receive a higher standard of cardiac care at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, according to a national award. Tacoma General Hospital was once again awarded the NCDR ACTION Registry®-GWTGTM Platinum Performance Achievement Award. Good Samaritan earned the Silver Performance Achievement Award.
  • Only three hospitals in Pierce County – all of them with MultiCare — have been recognized for providing a high level of stroke care. Presented by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, the 2013 “Get With The Guidelines” awards recognize MultiCare’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted guidelines. MultiCare Auburn Medical Center received the 2013 “Get With The Guidelines” Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award. MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital received the stroke Gold award and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup received the stroke Silver award. Good Samaritan also qualified for “Target: Stroke” Honor Roll status.
  • For the 16th time, MultiCare Tacoma General ranks No. 1 as one of the region’s preferred choices for health care, according to the 2013-2014 Consumer Choice Award, chosen by local residents surveyed by National Research Corporation. Winning hospitals from around the United States are highlighted in the current issue of Modern Healthcare magazine.
  • MultiCare is one of the nation’s Most Wired health care organizations for the fifth year in a row, according to a survey released in the current issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. The survey looked at the achievement in clinical quality and safety, in the continuum of care and in technology infrastructure, as well as in business and administrative management. MultiCare is one of the few health systems in the nation to have a complete electronic health record system.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital were the only two hospitals in the South Sound to be recognized as “Best Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report. Tacoma General ranks No. 5 and Good Samaritan ranks No. 11 out of 36 hospitals in the Seattle metropolitan area, which includes Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma.
  • MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital was named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of “100 Hospitals With Great Heart Programs.” The Becker’s editorial team selected these hospitals based on recognition for quality care, clinical awards and research contributions to cardiovascular care. MultiCare Regional Heart and Vascular Center was praised by Becker’s for opening the first cardiac catheterization lab in the region, as well as being the first local hospital to use a drug-coated stent.
  • The Auburn Reporter newspaper’s “Best of Auburn 2013” awards honored the hard work of MultiCare employees with the top prizes. MultiCare Auburn Medical Center was named “Best Medical Facility” and Dr. Michael Greeley was named “Best Physician.”
  • Katherine Bechtold, MHA, BSN, the Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive at MultiCare was named one of just 20 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellows for 2013.
  • Ted Walkley, MD, FAAP, FACEP, received the prestigious Nancy Auer Meritorious Achievement Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians Washington Chapter. Dr. Walkley is a physician in the Emergency Department at MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Tacoma, Wash.
  • The Business Examiner’s 2013 Health Care Champions honored Yolanda Duralde, MD, Medical Director of the Child Abuse Intervention Department at MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Center.
  • MultiCare’s Bethany Sexton Vice President of revenue cycle, and Matthew Jones, of the Foundations of MultiCare were honored among the Business Examiner newspaper’s “40 Under Forty.”
  • MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital’s Dally Tower received the prestigious Vista Award in the category for new construction. The award recognizes the importance of teamwork in creating an optimal health care environment on projects that succeed from pre-planning through construction to operation.
