Healthy Yakima supports programs and services through MultiCare Yakima Memorial that focus on providing education opportunities for obesity prevention, offering easy access to disease prevention and management programs, and more.

ACT! Get up, get moving!

ACT! Get Up, Get Moving is an evidence-based program that educated youth and their families how to lead healthy lifestyles. They incorporate nutritional and physical components to the program, including cooking classes and gym memberships to help kids improve their health.

Diabetes prevention

MultiCare Yakima Memorial’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps prediabetic patients lower their risk of Type 2 diabetes. This program focuses on equipping participants with the tools and knowledge they need to keep their health in check, and hopefully lowering their risk for Type 2 diabetes.

Exercise and health classes

Through a partnership with MultiCare Yakima Memorial, exercise activities such as yoga, Zumba, fitness boot camps, and cooking classes, which will now include 100 classes specifically for children, are a valuable community resource. These are provided at low or no cost to those who qualify, or are referred to the programs by their healthcare provider.
