YAKIMA, Wash. — MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital is renaming the therapy gym at Children’s Village to the Panda Cares® Center of Hope, made possible by Panda Express® associates and guests.

The Center of Hope contains play equipment that helps children improve body awareness, motor skills, communication, and social skills. Services include therapeutic play, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and behavioral health services, designed to give children the skills and strength to thrive.

“Panda Express’ unwavering commitment to children’s health has ensured our smallest patients receive the care, support and opportunities to thrive close to home,” said Erin Black, CEO at Memorial Foundation, philanthropic partner to the hospital. “The Panda Cares Center of Hope at Children’s Village will continue to be a transformative space where every step, every swing and every joyful movement leads to empowering patients to reach their fullest potential.”

Since 2007, Panda Express and Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals® have partnered to change kids’ health to change the future. To date, Panda has raised more than $151 million for hospitals affiliated with CMN Hospitals, including Yakima Memorial. Panda Express guests and their associates across Central and Southeast Washington and Northeast Oregon have raised nearly $500,000 since 2009 for pediatric programs, services and medical equipment at Yakima Memorial.

“We are proud to partner with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to bring the vision of the Panda Cares Center of Hope to life and are humbled to be part of the healing journey for the families and kids at these hospitals,” said Dr. Peggy Cherng, co-founder and co-CEO of Panda Restaurant Group. “Children are our future, and through this partnership and curriculum designed to give children the strength to thrive, we will bring smiles and hope to communities nationwide.”

Join leaders representing Panda Express, Memorial Foundation, Yakima Memorial and Children’s Village, along with patient families and staff, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Children’s Village, 3801 Kern Road, Yakima, to celebrate the renaming.
