Primary Care & Specialist Video Visits

What are primary care or specialist video visits?

Using your smartphone, tablet or computer, connect with your trusted provider who knows you and your health history. This option is available to patients who have established care with a MultiCare primary care or specialty provider.

When to use video visits

Video visits are available with most of our primary care and specialty providers for certain conditions or situations that do not require an in-person exam or testing.

This may include:

  • Birth control
  • Certain prescription refills
  • Chronic condition check-ins for high blood pressure or diabetes
  • Menopause care
  • Minor injuries and illnesses
  • Pregnancy care
  • Return-to-work/school notes
  • Routine follow-up visits

If you need X-rays, testing or a physical examination, you will likely need an in-person appointment.

During your video visit, your provider will discuss your concerns, develop a treatment plan and send any necessary medications to your pharmacy of choice — just like a visit in your provider’s office.

A primary care or specialist video visit costs the same as an in-person visit at our clinics. We accept the same insurance plans for video visits as we do at our clinics.

Get started with video visits

You’ll conduct your video visit through the MultiCare MyChart patient portal.

  1. Call your clinic or use MyChart to schedule an appointment.
  2. For best results, sign up for a MyChart account, if you don’t already have one. You can create a MyChart account here.
  3. Instructions to set up your virtual visit will be provided prior to your appointment.
  4. Follow the instructions to connect with your provider at the time of your visit.

During your appointment, please ensure you are in a quiet location free from interruptions, such as crowds. Please avoid engaging in activities like driving that could distract you or the provider. Disruptions or safety concerns may require your provider to discontinue the visit and reschedule your appointment.
