Benjamin Chen, MD is an orthopedic and spine surgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery. His special interests include treating adult deformities, scoliosis, sciatica, degenerative spinal conditions and disorders, infection, trauma and tumors, using the latest and most innovative surgical techniques.

Dr. Chen is fellowship-trained in spine surgery, and trained under world-renowned spine surgeon Steven Garfin, MD. During fellowship, he provided orthopedic care to athletes on the US Olympic team, UCSD Tritons, and the San Diego Chargers. He also served as a volunteer surgeon after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, where he treated some of the most rare and complex orthopedic injuries and deformities.

Dr. Chen is featured in Seattle Magazine's annual list of the Top Doctors in Puget Sound for 2023 and 2022.

    I was quite impressed with his knowledge and expertise. I almost felt guilty that I was not in pain at that time but The doctor noted some very critical issues in my x-rays and MRI. Helped me to understand why I have been having challenges.

    Dr. Chen was very clear explaining what's going on with my health, he was also good at letting me know what will happen if a certain treatment doesn't work than he will obviously do what is needed to be done.

    To be honest, at first, I felt an absence of compassion, leaving me feeling a little helpless. After talking with Dr Chen more, he could see my frustrations and became more concerned, explaining what my options were, in a very professional, yet warm manner. He even expressed the need for more discussions after the tests were ordered, regarding the benefits along with risks of such a serious procedure. I felt calm, well informed and, grateful when leaving his office.
