Frequently asked questions

What is the benefit of a virtual visit?

A major benefit of a virtual visit is convenience. You can talk to a provider from home — or anywhere with an internet connection — without having to drive to your provider’s office, find child care or get out of your pajamas when you’re not feeling well.

Where can I find connection instructions for video visits?

Your provider will send instructions prior to your appointment. If you need additional help, please contact your provider or review the troubleshooting page.

What if I’m not comfortable with video technology?

That’s OK. Just call your local clinic to schedule your appointment and we will talk you through the rest of the process. The technology requirements for a video visit are simple. You need a device with a camera, microphone (most modern smartphones meet this requirement) and internet connection. Wi-Fi or a wired connection is preferred over a cellular data connection. The rest of the process is as simple as clicking a link. You can review our troubleshooting documents for additional guidance.

How much will a virtual visit cost?

Virtual urgent care visits through Indigo are billed to your insurance on file. If you don’t have insurance, the flat fee for a video visit is $250.

Symptom Checker is free.

E-visits are billed to your insurance on file. Based on your plan, you may be charged for costs not covered ($35 or less). If you do not have insurance, you will be charged $35. You may receive a separate bill if your provider recommends additional services like lab work or screenings in the treatment plan and you receive that care. If a provider determines your medical concerns require a video or in-person visit, you will not be charged for the e-visit and will instead be charged for the other visit type. Learn more about e-visits.

Primary care or specialist video visits cost the same as an in-person visit at our clinics. We accept the same insurance plans for video visits as we do at our clinics.

What type of care does not work well for a virtual visit?

If you have a life-threatening condition or are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

If your condition requires you to meet with a provider in person — because you need X-rays, testing or a physical examination — please schedule an in-person appointment.

Can I get a prescription through a virtual visit?

Your provider may prescribe medication as part of your treatment plan. The prescription will be sent to your pharmacy of choice.

Can anyone use virtual care? What are the hours?

  • Virtual urgent care is available to new and returning patients in Washington state or Idaho, seven days a week from 8am-8pm.
  • Symptom Checker is available 24/7 for MultiCare patients who have a MyChart account. Patients must be at least 3 years old. Parents of minors ages 3-12 will need a proxy account to use this feature.
  • E-visits are available for established patients who have seen a MultiCare primary care provider in the last three years and have a MyChart account. Submit questions via an e-visits 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Answers are sent via MyChart within 24-48 hours, excluding weekends and holidays.
  • Primary care and specialist video visits are available with most MultiCare providers. A patient must have previously established care with a MultiCare provider in order to schedule a video visit. Video visits are conducted during the provider’s office hours.

Can I use virtual care when traveling?

Symptom Checker: You can use Symptom Checker at any time from any location.

E-visits and video visits: Due to legal requirements, e-visits and video visits are only available when you’re in Washington state or Idaho.

Do I need a MultiCare MyChart account to use virtual care?

A MyChart account is not needed for virtual urgent care.

A MultiCare MyChart account is required for Symptom Checker and e-visits.

For primary care and specialty video visits, a MyChart account is recommended, but not required.
