Staff told him he had a shoulder impingement and would need it taped.<\/p>\n<p>He decided to play through it \u2014 one-armed \u2014 and deal with it later.<\/p>\n<p>An hour later, Woelber was being rushed back to the MultiCare tent after rupturing his Achilles tendon on the court.<\/p>\n<p>That was 2023. I would\u2019ve told you that I would play until I was 80,\u201d he explains. \u201cMy injury changed things, but didn\u2019t change the love that I have for the game of basketball or Hoopfest. When you realize that you are breakable, it changes the way that you approach competition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Woelber is, however, proud of the progress he\u2019s made, including running in Bloomsday.
