Coming up Sept. 23, Rock the Foundation 2017 will feature dinner, a live auction and an intimate concert with country music sensation Joe Nichols.<\/p>\n

Here are four reasons to get excited.<\/p>\n

1. The cause: Building a new behavioral health hospital for Pierce County families.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

One in five adults experience mental illness.<\/p>\n

A family\u2019s world stops when a loved one struggles with issues such as anxiety, depression and substance abuse. And their world falls into a black hole without access to care.<\/p>\n

Pierce County has fallen far below the national average of 26.1 inpatient psychiatric beds per 100,000 people. In fact, we rank among the lowest in the entire nation with an average of just 2.8 beds.<\/p>\n

Families are unable to get the care they need when they need it. Our loved ones end up in the emergency department or locked in jail during a crisis. And worse, without access to essential care, our family, friends and neighbors can end up losing their jobs, their homes and their sense of self.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s make behavioral health care a priority and solve this crisis \u2014 together.<\/p>\n

CHI Franciscan Health and MultiCare Health System have formed a partnership<\/a> to build a 120-bed behavioral health hospital in Tacoma to help 5,000 adults in crisis each year.<\/p>\n

All proceeds from Rock the Foundation 2017 will support the cost of building the new hospital.<\/p>\n

2. You\u2019ll enjoy a concert with country music star Joe Nichols. <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Joe Nichols is one of country music\u2019s most celebrated country artists. The four-time Grammy nominee is winner of the Academy of Country Music\u2019s \u201cTop New Male Vocalist\u201d award, the CMT \u201cBreakthrough Video of the Year\u201d award and the prestigious \u201cHorizon Award\u201d from the Country Music Association. Nichols is currently touring the United States and will be performing an intimate concert for our Rock the Foundation guests.<\/p>\n

3. You can wear your cowboy boots. <\/strong><\/h3>\n

This is a whole new rodeo. Wear your choice of western or cocktail attire. How often do you get to pull out those red cowboy boots?<\/p>\n

4. You want to be in the room where it happens. <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Building a new behavioral health hospital is a measure of our collective impact. The project has already brought MultiCare and CHI Franciscan together. It has also brought community leaders of all different political beliefs and backgrounds together.<\/p>\n

On Sept. 23, everyone in the room at Rock the Foundation will play a role in transforming behavioral health care in Pierce County. Be there.<\/p>\n
