For many women, this leads to discomfort, increased anxiety, and reduced satisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>The new technology, called the Savi Scout\u00ae, uses a\u00a0small reflector the size of a grain of rice that is implanted the day before surgery and eliminates the need for wires. During surgery, this reflector precisely guides surgeons with a 1mm margin of accuracy using a unique radar signal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProviding this new technology will allow more accurate identification of the abnormality being excised, which can result in better conservation of breast tissues without sacrificing outcome,\u201d says Dr. Eunice Cho, a breast surgeon with MultiCare. \u201cPatients will feel less discomfort and will have an overall more positive experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Cianna Medical, manufacturer of the technology, it offers multiple benefits to both the surgeon and the patient including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ability to place the reflector on a separate day can simplify the patient\u2019s day of surgery, increasing convenience and lessening anxiety.<\/li>\n<li>The reflector is not externally visible after placement and will not restrict the patient\u2019s daily activities.<\/li>\n<li>Minimization of the patient\u2019s wait time on the day of surgery.<\/li>\n<li>Guidance for precise tumor localization, which some studies show may increase the likelihood of complete cancer removal, reduce the chance of removal of normal tissue and reduce the chances that the patient will need a second surgery.<\/li>\n<li>The surgeon is able to plan the incision during surgery, which may allow for less tissue removal which can help result in better cosmetic results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Initial Savi Scout\u00ae consultations will be held at MultiCare Covington Medical Center with breast lumpectomy procedures performed at MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/updates-www.mccdn.io\/breast-health\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more about MultiCare&#8217;s Breast Health Services<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false,"gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"html"}]},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A miniature reflector helps guide surgeons with high accuracy during breast cancer removal.<\/p>\n","protected":false,"gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"html"}]},"author":123,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[71,103,115],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5451","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-mens-health","category-research","category-womens-health"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.6 (Yoast SEO v27.6) -
