Drink this, not that: A dietitian offers healthy beverage substitutes

We talked to a dietitian for some tasty — but low-calorie — beverage substitutes.

We Americans tend to get too many of our daily calories from sugary drinks — sodas, juices, blended coffee drinks with syrups and whipped cream, the list goes on.

Unfortunately, these types of drinks are high in calories and low on nutrients. Plus, they may increase your risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease and other chronic health problems.

Not everyone enjoys drinking plain water, though. So we talked to a dietitian for some tasty — but low-calorie — beverage substitutes.

Jordan Watson, RDN, CD, a surgical and medical weight loss dietitian with the MultiCare Center for Weight Loss and Wellness, shared the following suggestions in this downloadable infographic.
