Celebrating two years of MultiCare in the Inland Northwest

July 1, 2019 | By MultiCare Health System

Valued friends and neighbors,

Two years ago, Deaconess Hospital, Rockwood Clinic and Valley Hospital joined the MultiCare family. Since that time, it’s been our privilege to serve the communities in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho, and to learn together about what it means to be a part of this region.

We’ve partnered with many of the region’s strong, community-minded organizations that are closely tied to the unique culture of the Inland Northwest — organizations like Hoopfest, Gonzaga Athletics, Spokane Indians Baseball, Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, local law enforcement and fire agencies, SNAP, Lilac Festival, Gleason Fest, The Spokesman-Review, Radio Spokane and the Kalispell Tribe. We continue to grow our partnerships with groups and causes that are meaningful to the Inland Northwest community.

Returning Deaconess, Valley and Rockwood Clinic to nonprofit status, and sharing our financial assistance program — one of the most generous in the state — allows us to do our part to ensure all patients get the care they need, regardless of their ability to pay. In the last two years, charity care for Deaconess, Valley and Rockwood Clinic patients has tripled, and we are on pace to give over $28 million in charity care to the region in 2019.

The MultiCare Inland Northwest Foundation, which raises money to support patient care at Deaconess and Valley hospitals, as well as Rockwood Clinic, was also established in 2018. MultiCare’s Community Partnership Fund awarded grants from $5,000 to $25,000 each to 29 local nonprofit organizations throughout the Inland Northwest last year, actively supporting groups like Women Helping Women and Second Harvest that are tackling some of this region’s most difficult issues.

It has been our honor to live in and serve this community. Thank you for a great first two years. We look forward to continuing to build on our shared commitment to partnering for healing and a healthy future together.

Yours in healing and health,

The MultiCare Family
