Supporting the wellbeing and emotional resilience of our care teams at MultiCare is vital. As thousands of our employees are selflessly serving on the frontlines of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, community members and staff members alike have rallied together to offer visible signs of emotional support for our health care workers.

One way that this has come to life is through the creation of Hope Grows Here comfort care packages. These special deliveries were packed with love by a multidisciplinary team of “hope warriors” from various areas of MultiCare, including Service Excellence, Human Potential, Volunteer Services and the MultiCare Foundations. Packages included donated items from our communities such as grab-and-go snacks, candy and handwritten appreciation notes.

Altogether, 195 care packages were delivered to 162 different units and teams at MultiCare Allenmore Hospital, Auburn and Covington Medical Centers, Home Health and Hospice, Tacoma General Hospital and Support Services. The packages reached a total of 2,581 individual workers who are giving their all, day in and day out, to care for our communities during this stressful time.

In the words of the teams who made this project possible:

“We hope these bundles of encouragement will help to lift spirits as you live the double burden of providing care to patients, then going home to face the same concerns shared by the communities you serve as we all weather this public health crisis together. Thank you for all that you do.”
