Fiesta de Salud brings health care, community together

More than 4,000 community members received free preventive care during the annual Fiesta de Salud health fair in Yakima, Washington.

The Yakima community came together earlier this summer to access free preventive care and celebrate well-being during the 14th annual Fiesta de Salud, hosted by MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital.

As the largest health fair in the region, Fiesta de Salud aims to reduce health disparities and prevent chronic disease through early detection, promoting routine health care and connecting people to resources available in their community.

More than 4,000 community members had the opportunity to access blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol screenings, vision exams, back-to-school vaccines and information about colon cancer screenings. Providers and resident physicians from partners at Community Health of Central Washington were on-site to discuss results and next steps with patients.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a fiesta without dancing, fun and connection. More than 60 community partners participated in the event, providing live music, dance performances, games, prizes and cooking demonstrations, among many other activities.
