The National Diabetes Prevention Program is an evidence-based program for people who are at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Those at high risk include people who have prediabetes or borderline diabetes, gestational diabetes, family members with diabetes, high blood pressure or are overweight. The program’s main goal is to help you reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

During the program, you will:

  • Participate in group discussions around healthy eating habits and physical activity
  • Keep a food log
  • Track physical activity
  • Participate in regular weigh-ins (done privately with support from your facilitator)

Additional details

In this year-long program, you will meet weekly for the first four months, twice a month for two months, and then once a month for the last six months. Each session lasts one hour.
