Brain Health & Wellness Program

The Brain Injury Alliance of Washington (BIAWA) Brain Health & Wellness Program will tailor health and wellness services specifically for individuals affected by Brain Injury and their loved ones. The program will offer non-clinical classes such as social skills, organizational skills, relationships and communicating, as well as a mentoring program, all designed to empower the participants and give them the tools to take ownership of their health and well-being.

Stroke Strides

Stroke Strides is a series of classes designed for stroke survivors, their family members, caregivers and friends. Each session includes a guest speaker, support materials, and opportunities for discussion & socialization.

Brain Injury and Stroke Education for Families

This education group is for family members of patients who are receiving or have received care at Good Samaritan’s Rehabilitation Center. The group will provide basic education on traumatic brain injury, stroke, and other brain disorders. Recovery of function as well as how thinking abilities, behaviors, and emotions are affected by brain disorders will be discussed.

  • When: 2nd Tuesday of each month
  • Time: 6 – 7pm

Brain Injury Support Group

This support group is for people who have had traumatic brain injuries and their families.

  • Led by: Penny Condoll
  • When: 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month
  • Time: 6 – 7pm
  • Where: MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, Meadow Pavilion, level 1, Mt Rainier Room

Spinal Cord Education Classes

A three-week series of Spinal Cord Injury Classes are held as needed, depending on current inpatient SCI census. Start dates vary.

  • When: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
  • Time: 11am-Noon
  • Where: MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, Meadow Pavilion, level 1, Therapeutic Recreation Room

Aphasia Support Group

  • Led by: Emily Brandjord, MS, CCC-SLP
  • When: 2nd Tuesday of each month
  • Time: 5:30-6:30pm
  • Where: Good Samaritan Hospital, Meadow Pavilion, Level A, Mt Rainier Conference Room

Caregiver Support Group at Good Samaritan Hospital

Stroke and brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other chronic medical conditions are life changing for both those who are diagnosed and those close to them. Join other caregivers who truly understand the experiences that you are going through.

These meetings are free and open to any MultiCare staff member as well as the public.
