MultiCare continues free COVID-19 testing for South King County communities in 2021

TACOMA, Wash. — MultiCare Health System today announced a continued partnership with Medical Teams International to offer free COVID-19 testing in South King County for vulnerable populations in 2021.

The testing sites are drive up or walk up and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No insurance, identification or fees are required for participants. Insurance information will be collected if an individual has it. However, it is not required for testing. No pre-registration is required for testing.

Current timing for these free services includes:

COVID-19 precautions will be in place and will include a screening questionnaire, temperature checks. Only one patient at a time will be allowed in the clinic for social distancing. No guests or family members will be permitted in the mobile clinic.

In 2020, MultiCare partnered with HealthierHere and Medical Teams International to develop COVID-19 testing sites and provide emergency dental services to serve the needs of vulnerable populations in South King County. Due to the disproportionate effect of COVID-19 on the South King County community, MultiCare’s goal was and continues to be to target vulnerable populations and bridge gaps of care. This includes those who are impoverished, disabled, homeless, as well as migrant workers and other marginalized communities.

In 2020, the 16 mobile COVID-19 testing clinics ran from September to November and served 770 patients, almost doubling the goal of 400 patients. The 10 emergency dental clinics ran from July to November and served 76 patients.
