About the application process

MultiCare East Pierce Family Medicine will accept applications through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for first-year residents. Upon receipt, we’ll conduct a preliminary review to evaluate the applicant’s academic fitness.

Application

Minimum elements for an application include:

  1. Three letters of reference (at least two are required for the preliminary review)
  2. Medical school transcript
  3. Dean’s letter (MSPE)
  4. Personal statement
  5. COMLEX or USMLE transcript (we do not publicize minimum USMLE/COMLEX scores)
  6. Applicants should have graduated from medical school or be actively practicing medicine within two years of starting residency
  7. Applicants should have failed no more than one USMLE/COMLEX attempt

Your ERAS application must be complete, including all the documentation listed here, as well as verification of passing the USMLE Step II-CS examination and verification of current certification by the ECFMG, to be prescreened by faculty.

Applicants who have not received ECFMG certification by the deadline for submission of the program ranking list will not be listed for our program.

Note for international graduates: Our parent hospital does not sponsor visas.

Interview

Interviews will be scheduled based on the needs of the applicant and the program. We do all of our interviewing virtually, but we offer in-person looks throughout interview season.

Applicants are not expected to bring any additional documentation or materials to the interview. All relevant information should be submitted through ERAS.
