Is your family ready for a healthy change? ACT! is an evidence-based program that models nutrition and physical activity behaviors that your family can put into action right away.

Designed for kids ages 8-14 with a body-mass index (BMI) greater than the 85th percentile and their parents/guardians, the ACT! program empowers families to build healthier habits together by incorporating fun physical activities and learning about nutrition through hands-on cooking.

ACT! supports lasting lifestyle changes that can reduce obesity risks and improve overall well-being. Families gain accountability, connection and tools for long-term success.

Program overview:

  • 120-minute in-person or 90-minute virtual group sessions for 13 weeks
  • Sessions led by nutrition and physical activity coaches
  • Three-month YMCA family membership you can use between sessions
  • Energizing games, activities and light meals
  • Nutrition counseling sessions
  • Fitness assessments before and after the program available upon request
  • Classes offered in English and Spanish
  • A parent/guardian must attend the program with their child
