Graduate Medical Education

MultiCare is one of the largest clinical training sites for students, residents and fellows in the Pacific Northwest. Our Graduate Medical Education (GME) office manages relationships with schools, universities and programs across the country and supports the trainees in our hospitals and clinics. Graduate Medical Education focuses on the training for:

  • Medical students
  • Nurse Practitioner students
  • Physician Assistant students
  • Nurse Midwife students
  • Physician residents
  • Physician fellows
  • Nurse Practitioner fellows

Training is provided by physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (ARNPs, PAs, and CNMs) throughout our organization, in both hospitals and clinics. We are pleased to be able to offer this important training. Our providers find it professionally rewarding and MultiCare feels it improves our quality and safety.

We train over 1,000 students, residents and fellows each year. Onboarding and coordination of trainees is managed at the regional level by our offices in the Puget Sound and Inland Northwest. When students have a rotation with MultiCare, they have a supervising provider who oversees their training and coordinates with other providers on their team. Students receive frequent feedback and are evaluated at the end of their rotation.
