MultiCare Health System’s RN Transition to Practice Program graduating class

MultiCare nurse residency program earns national accreditation

January 10, 2024

TACOMA, Wash. — MultiCare Health System’s RN Transition to Practice Program has earned accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP).

The RN Transition to Practice Program allows newly graduated nurses to begin their nursing career in a cohort model with structured education, clinical experience, mentorship, and peer support. The goal is to ensure new nurses gain skills and confidence in delivering quality patient care in their first year on the job. To date, 700 registered nurses have completed the residency program.

To achieve accreditation, health care organizations must pass an extensive application process, submit written documentation in the form of a self-study and participate in a site visit.

MultiCare hospitals accredited for the next four years include: MultiCare Allenmore Hospital, MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Covington Medical Center, MultiCare Deaconess Hospital, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
