TACOMA, Wash. — Hilary Whittington has been named chief executive officer of MultiCare Health System’s Pulse Heart Institute.

Whittington joined Pulse Heart Institute in 2020 as their chief financial officer. In December 2023 she took on the expanded role of chief financial officer for all of MultiCare’s institutes, including Pulse and the MultiCare Cancer Institute. This February, she assumed the role of interim president of Pulse.

“Hilary’s innovative mindset and dedication to our teams will help Pulse continue to grow and serve our communities,” said Michael Meyer, MD, Pulse Heart Institute board chair.” She works tirelessly to further our mission of giving people, both patients and team members, the opportunity to live their best lives.”

Whittington earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Gonzaga University and her master’s in business administration from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. She also holds a master’s certificate in health care leadership from Cornell University.

“I’m excited to take on this new leadership role at Pulse,” said Whittington. “Our goal is to provide our patients with comprehensive heart and vascular care close to home. I look forward to partnering with our providers and staff in growing our services throughout the Pacific Northwest.”

In her spare time, Whittington enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two sons exploring forests. She’s also working toward earning her pilot’s license.
