Practice Philosophy:

I developed a deep appreciation for people with different backgrounds and cultures as a result of growing up in parts of Canada and the United States, as well as living a number of years in Japan. I enjoy interacting with a diversity of people and this complements my desire to help patients as a primary care physician. My aim is to help patients lead healthy lifestyles and to make sure they have the information they need to make well-informed decisions.

Dr Balson is amazing. He has been my primary care for over 10 years. He walked into the exam room understanding my medical issue and immediately examined my foot and made recommendations for short and long term treatment. He ordered an X-ray and I was able to get it done at the GH MC imaging office before the closed. I was so relieved to have prompt concerned medical care

When I moved from AZ to WA in 2009, I had to leave all of my doctors behind who had taken care of me for over 30 years. They were all exceptional doctors with equally exceptional staff. I eventually found Dr. Balson and his staff. I was greatly concerned that I would find a primary care physician that I felt comfortable with and that would care about my medical issues as my doctors in AZ. Dr. Balson has made my transfer of medical services seamless and personal.

This was a follow-up exam to assess health status since last exam. Improvement very good; there was little to discuss; exam was brief.

He was adequate. But I felt like he did not appreciate that. He was not my primary care physician. It is difficult to get into my primary care and my knee needed attention. He is not very compassionate. he made me feel bad about being overweight with a knee condition. I'm sure he is qualified, but I would not return to see him again.
