Pulmonary Care

Supporting your respiratory health and your long-term well-being.
MultiCare pulmonary care

The act of breathing is about more than inhales and exhales — it has a direct impact on quality of life. The respiratory system, which includes the lungs, airways, diaphragm and other structures, is complex, and it powers every facet of our lives, from our ability to smell and speak and think to how energetic we feel.

Pulmonary problems, which affect the lungs and other parts of the respiratory system, can range from mild to severe. Whether you are managing asthma or facing a lung cancer diagnosis, our team of pulmonary specialists are here to support you and help you achieve the best possible outcome.

What we treat

At MultiCare, we treat a variety of pulmonary conditions:

How we help

Lung conditions can have many causes, from infections to harmful substances in your environment to tobacco use. Sometimes genes passed down from one generation to the next can also cause some pulmonary diseases. Regardless of the cause, most lung conditions require specialized care and sustained lifestyle changes.

Our pulmonary team includes pulmonologists (doctors who specialize in lung conditions), nurses, rehabilitation therapists and other professionals. Together they collaborate with you to evaluate and treat respiratory problems, strengthen your lungs and respiratory muscles, ease recovery, and support long-term well-being. Treatment for pulmonary conditions depends on your diagnosis and individual circumstances. We offer a range of options, including surgical and non-surgical approaches.

Some of our services include:

Interventional pulmonology. Doctors who specialize in interventional pulmonology use minimally-invasive, non-surgical techniques to diagnose and treat lung conditions, from emphysema to lung cancer. Doctors may use interventional pulmonology to expand airways that are too narrow, open blocked airways and treat lung problems such as bleeding or inflammation.

Pulmonary rehabilitation. Offered through MultiCare Pulse Heart Institute, our pulmonary rehabilitation program can help improve your quality of life through exercise, education, emotional support and more. People living with chronic lung diseases or those who are undergoing preoperative or postoperative care for certain lung-related surgeries may benefit from this program.
