Practice Philosophy:

Colorectal and gastrointestinal diseases are sometimes accompanied by feelings of embarrassment, confusion, or fear brought on by the symptoms or conditions that the patient experiences, sometimes leading to hesitancy in seeking medical care. Expertise in colorectal surgery is critical for early medical and surgical prevention or intervention, as cases are often missed or treated too late. As a colorectal surgeon, we are treating not only a surgical concern, but the patient and these feelings. We are addressing an intimate part of the body, and through the surgical procedure changing the patient’s life in a significant way. Approaching this task with humility, striving toward expertise in these conditions, and working to establish a trusting relationship with every patient are vital components to my work as a colorectal surgeon.
