When you choose to have your baby at Tacoma General’s Family Birth Center you have access to:

  • All-private birthing suites, where you’ll stay throughout your labor, delivery and recovery (Unless you need extra medical support).
  • Each room includes a window, en suite bathroom and jetted tub, plenty of room for visitors and a designated family zone with Internet access, phone charging, storage area and large sleeper sofas to accommodate overnight visitors.
  • Private, spacious postpartum rooms where mom, baby and family can rest until it’s time to leave the hospital.
  • Baby stays in the room with mom (unless baby needs extra medical support).
  • Lactation support to help you successfully breast feed your baby.
  • On-site lactation supply boutique that provides breast pump rental and sales, as well as other supplies for sale including nursing bras and bra fittings.

In case your baby needs a higher level of care, the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital is at the ready. As the region’s only Level IV NICU, we are able to care for the smallest, sickest and most fragile newborns.
