Keeping your health information safe
In order to protect MyChart users’ credit card information for our new bill pay feature, MyChart will only work in web browsers that are using the most current data transfer security, SSL Version TLS 1.2.
What is SSL?
SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer, and it is the standard security technology used to create an encrypted link between a web server and a browser (So, for example, between the MyChart server and your computer). This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and protected.
Over the years, SSL technology has become more sophisticated and the current versions do a better job of protecting the important information you send over the web than previous versions. However, some older browsers (Internet Explorer 8, for example) still use older versions of SSL protection.
How Do I Fix It?
The simplest fix for this issue is to update your current browser with the latest version of that browser. You can easily find the latest version of your browser (For example, Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome) by typing the name of the browser into the Google search bar. Follow the link and instructions to download and install an updated browser.
If you are more tech savvy, it may also be possible to update your browser’s SSL encryption settings without installing a new browser version.
