Fellowship for Advanced Practice Providers

We are a post-graduate Fellowship for Advanced Practice Providers, one of only a few in Washington State, designed to improve patient outcomes and provider satisfaction by intentionally training new graduates for primary care roles & settings.

  • Family Nurse Practitioner only
  • New graduates within the first year of practice
  • Located in Tacoma, Washington at MultiCare James Center Primary Care
  • Affiliated with a Family Practice Residency
  • Includes MultiCare Health Clinic – Oakland High School, school-based health clinic
  • One year in length ​
  • 4 positions:
    • 2 in Spring
    • 2 in Fall with Northwest Consortium for Advanced Practice & Education (NW CAPE) ​
  • Full-scope family practice except OB

Program goals include:

  • Patient-centered care that is timely, effective, efficient, & safe
  • Chart completion within two days
  • Coding accurately to capture charges
  • Recognize personal needs for growth & establish goals to accomplish
  • Provider satisfaction and belonging reflected in long-term retention
  • Develop a Community of Inquiry with ongoing education support after graduation
  • Develop personal resources for practice
  • Participate in professional collaboration projects
  • Have fun along the way!

Oakland High School

  • Clinic opened April 2018​
  • Joint venture with Tacoma Public Schools​
  • Students 13-19 & onsite daycare ​
  • Staffed three days/week during the school-year​
  • APP Fellows staff clinic one day a week ​
