TACOMA, Wash. — More than 400 community members gathered at MultiCare Good Samaritan Foundation’s 19th annual Corks & Crush gala on May 17, benefiting MultiCare Cancer Institute. The event was held at the Washington State Fair Events Center.
The wine tasting fundraiser raised more than $1 million to expand access to high-quality cancer care in East Pierce County through MultiCare Cancer Institute.
“Philanthropy plays an important role in MultiCare Cancer Institute’s vision of expanding access to personalized, comprehensive oncology services in the Pacific Northwest,” said Margo Shoup, MD, MBA, president and chief medical officer of MultiCare Cancer Institute. “This outpouring of generosity will allow us to do even more for East Pierce patients and families and deliver the kind of high-quality, cutting-edge care that this community deserves.”
Cancer remains the leading cause of death in Pierce County. Event proceeds will help provide the latest cancer treatments and a more seamless patient experience, while reducing the burden of travel. For nearly two decades, Corks & Crush has raised support for MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital programs and services, from cardiovascular care and emergency services to children’s health and more.
“It’s been an honor to serve as a Corks & Crush co-chair alongside 20 fellow committee volunteers and our entire board, all of whom share a passion for advancing exceptional cancer care close to home,” said Cameron Thrall, MultiCare Good Samaritan Foundation board member. “I’m inspired by this community’s commitment to each other, and grateful to everyone who has invested in a healthier future.”
The presenting sponsor for Corks & Crush was Howard S. Wright.
