Yakima, WA — MultiCare Health System opened its newest neighborhood emergency department to patients in Yakima County on Monday, November 3 at 9 a.m.
The new facility, 38 Adelyn Way (near Valley Mall Blvd.) in Union Gap, will address the needs of the community and increase access to care for patients in the Yakima Valley.
MultiCare Emergency – Union Gap features 10 examination rooms, a pharmacy, a lab and on-site radiology services, including X-ray, ultrasound and CT scans. The emergency department will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will be staffed by board-certified emergency physicians.
“This new emergency department represents the fulfillment of a promise MultiCare made to the Yakima community,” said Tammy Buyok. “By investing in local services, we’re not only expanding access to advanced health care, but also honoring our commitment to build a stronger, more resilient health care system that meets the growing needs of our community.”
Neighborhood emergency departments are designed to provide prompt, comprehensive care for a wide range of illnesses and injuries. Patients can be seen, treated and discharged in far less time than at a traditional larger hospital.
This will be MultiCare’s eighth neighborhood emergency department in Washington state through a partnership with Texas-based Emerus Holding Inc. Emerus is a leader in developing and operating small-format hospitals and acute-care facilities. The Union Gap facility will operate under Yakima Memorial Hospital’s license.
General construction contractor was Anderson Construction. The facility was designed by Philo Wilke Partners.
