Alex A. Mohit, MD, PhD, FAANS
Alex Mohit, MD, PhD, FAANS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in complex spine surgery. Over nearly two decades Dr. Mohit has performed more than 5,000 spine surgeries focusing on degenerative disease, spinal deformity, trauma and spinal tumors. His approach to surgery centers on the incorporation of new technologies such as endoscopic spine surgery, robotics and minimally invasive techniques where smaller incisions are used to approach the spine without muscle cutting, leading to quicker recoveries. In addition, with the advent of lumbar and cervical disc replacement technology, Dr. Mohit aims to avoid spinal fusion whenever feasible, resulting in faster recoveries and maintaining functionality.
Dr. Mohit has a strong interest in the academic practice of spine surgery, following best practice guidelines that have been formulated through shared decision making by spine practitioners throughout the United States and the world.
In his free time, Dr. Mohit and his family take advantage of all the Pacific Northwest has to offer, including hiking, bicycling and downhill skiing. An avid sports fan, he also enjoys attending college basketball and football games whenever possible.
Dr. Mohit specializes in the following:
- Complex spine surgery
- Minimally invasive techniques including endoscopic surgery and robotic-assisted surgery
- Degenerative disease (spinal stenosis, disc herniations, spondylolisthesis)
- Spinal deformity (scoliosis, kyphosis)
- Trauma (spinal fractures, dislocations, spinal cord compressions)
- Spinal tumors
- MultiCare Medical Partners
The cornerstone of my practice is listening to patients, helping them understand the nature of their spine problems and partnering with them to achieve their long-term goals of pain-free activity.
