Practice Philosophy:

I believe that caring for patients starts with respect, empathy and the ability to listen closely to their concerns. My philosophy is simple-to treat my patients as I would treat my family. My goal is to provide the best possible care through careful evaluation, and to work with my patients to plan the most beneficial, individualized treatments. All alternatives are explored before surgery is considered.

Dr Chen always listens very carefully to questions and concerns I may have. He always explains the treatments that can be used for my problems and his concerns for my wellbeing after a surgery and during a surgery. He makes every thing very clear and gives me his opinion of what would work the best and makes sure that I know that it is only my decision to make. He makes sure I know the options and if a second opinion is necessary that I can have the arrangements provided.

Doctor was running behind so it felt like he was on a hurry to see me, hear me out and then get me out the door. My family Dr has a much better bedside manner. Maybe that the way it is with surgical doctors?

Dr. Chen was very cordial and nice and seemed very concerned about my health issue. He told me why I needed surgery instead of the radio frequency ablation that I want to have. He showed me pictures and then could see the reason why the other procedure would not work. He explained it to me very well.

This was, hopefully, the last visit with Dr Chen. He performed major back surgery on me in early January. I have seen his PA throughout the past 5 6 months. However, we're still leaving the file open because I am having issues with the muscles trying to figure out how they're supposed to work now. We also have a major hip replacement coming up that will also affect those muscles. So although the spine has healed, if I still need help after the hip replacement, I can easily go in as a continuing patient versus a new condition. That surprised and pleased me. We also discussed methods to help those muscles calm down.
