Practice Philosophy: My approach to patient care, from feedback I have received, is much more information-driven than most.  In a word, I would say I'm an educator.  I find that when patients truly understand their conditions, they are much more likely to follow our advice and keep their follow-up appointments. I'm happiest when I can explain a complex medical problem to someone who has never really understood what they have going on in their retina.  When I see the 'lightbulb' go off over their head, I know I've made a difference. Another word would be Monitor as I'm also one to continue seeing certain patients who don't have acute issues but whose condition may 'sneak up' on them later on (Macular Degeneration and Diabetes are famous for this behavior). I believe that a quick expert looks at patients with these conditions, when they are not having new problems, often catches pathology that may soon be an acute vision-threatening event.   One of my favorite lines is, "If I peek, it can't sneak." I'm very proud that my 'peeks' have saved many, many people from going blind.

This was my first visit to Dr. O'Connor and I was a bit nervous. He was very thorough in explaining exactly what he was going to do to help me, both before getting started and during the procedure. He listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. He made the procedure as comfortable as possible. I appreciated his attention to detail.

Dr. O'Connor seemed more interested in listening to himself rather than me.

Dr. O'Conner did as good of job explaining my condition in terms that I could understand as anybody has during any medical appointment or procedure in my past. Thank you very much for that. His technician Jacob also did an outstanding job explaining the things he was testing for and procedures he was using.

My problem wasn't with the assistance. It was with the new doctor that I met and his arrogant attitude.

He was very patient with my elder mother and explaining things in ways she could understand.

Again, Dr. O'Conner was short-tempered and condescending. I had a piece of metal in my eye and I was trying my best to keep my eyes open while a very bright light was directed at my extremely light sensitive eyes. Dr. O'Conner made rude comments to me during the operation. Honestly, I don't believe he should be in a service career with the way he acts.

He discussed every thing I had any consent about. He is the best eye Dr I've ever had. I had 6 others over the last 12 years.
