Eye Care

Get optical care that elevates your health and fits your lifestyle.

Good eye health is about more than seeing clearly — your sense of vision supports the functioning of your brain as well as your quality of life. MultiCare provides a full continuum of eye care services for children and adults, from regular exams to treatments for ocular injuries and diseases.

What we treat

We diagnose and treat a wide variety of eye conditions, such as:

  • Astigmatism
  • Cataracts
  • Diseases of the retina, such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy
  • Dry eye, itchy eyes and red eyes
  • Farsightedness (hyperopia)
  • Glaucoma
  • Nearsightedness (myopia)
  • Injuries, such as corneal abrasions or trauma to the eye

How we help

MultiCare’s eye care specialists include both optometrists and ophthalmologists. You may see one or the other, or both, depending on your particular needs.

Optometrists are trained professionals who perform vision screenings and eye exams; diagnose and treat eye conditions that do not require surgery or specialized care; and provide prescriptions for glasses or contact lens. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors that have advanced training and expertise in performing surgical procedures and managing serious or complex eye diseases. Your care team may include other professionals as well who facilitate eye exams and assist you in finding eyewear that fits your lifestyle and budget.

Whether you are seeking a new stylish pair of eyeglasses or have a health concern, our eye care experts are here to help you maintain your eye health and maximize your vision.

What to expect at an eye exam

We look forward to seeing you for your appointment. Eye exams typically take between one to one-and-a-half hours. Your provider may dilate your eyes as part of your exam. Dilation can increase your eyes’ sensitivity to light or the glare of the sun, which can make driving difficult. Consider bringing sunglasses to your appointment and someone who can drive you home, if needed.

The following information can help you plan for your appointment:

  • Bring your health insurance cards and co-payment. If your insurance requires a referral, please contact your primary care provider.
  • Bring your driver’s license form (if applicable).
  • Bring the glasses you usually wear and any newer or back-up glasses, even if you do not usually wear them. If you wear contact lenses, please wear them to the appointment and let us know what contact solutions you are currently using.
  • Bring a list of all of your current eye medications.
  • Transfer all of your prior eye exam medical records to MultiCare. Please ensure these records are sent to our clinic before your exam or bring them with you to your appointment.
