Laboratories Northwest billing

Laboratories Northwest, or LabsNW, bills in the following ways:

Client Billing

For most services, LabsNW will bill clients (physicians) monthly with an itemized invoice that includes patient name, date of service, test performed, and the test fee. Additional information can be included if the client desires. These invoices are due upon receipt.

Commercial Insurance

Some physicians request that LabsNW bill commercial payors directly, and in these cases LabsNW will bill your insurance directly.  LabsNW is a hospital based laboratory.  To find out if LabsNW is in-network with your insurance, you can provide tax ID 911352172 to your insurance company for verification.

Medicare/Medicaid Billing

LabsNW bills Medicare and Medicaid.  For Medicare patients, a Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire is required. For certain testing, a Medicare Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage, or “ABN”, may need to be completed before specimens are collected as Medicare may or may not cover certain testing.

Direct Patient Billing

LabsNW will bill self-pay or non-insured patients directly. Patients should expect a bill 2-3 weeks after services are completed. Please ask about our self-pay discount.

Western Washington Pathology & Cellnetixs Pathology

LabsNW has partnered with two private practices of pathologists to provide pathology services. When pathology services are provided, two bills are issued: one from Western Washington Pathology or Cellnetixs Pathology (for physician services), and one from MultiCare Health System (for the technical preparation of the specimens for pathologist review).

University of Washington Medicine Laboratory and other testing laboratories

Laboratories Northwest partners with UW Medicine lab and other testing laboratories for specialized testing.  UW Medicine lab and other testing laboratories will bill patient directly for the testing they perform.
