How to Access Mental & Behavioral Health Care

We offer a wide range of mental and behavioral health services for children, adults and families across the Pacific Northwest. Whether you’re looking for outpatient counseling, addiction support or inpatient psychiatric care at one of our hospitals, there are many ways to get started and access the help you need.

Talk to your primary care provider

Many of our primary care clinics offer mental and behavioral health services on-site. Your primary care doctor or other health care provider can connect you with the services best suited to your specific concerns.

Call your local access center

We’ll help you find the services you need at a location in your community.

Complete a walk-in assessment

Our outpatient locations offer walk-in assessments for mental health concerns or substance use disorders.

What to expect

When you call our Access Center or visit one of our locations for a same-day assessment, we will gather information to determine if our services fit your needs.

Following this screening, we will provide you information about walking in or scheduling an assessment with a qualified behavioral health clinician. If you are in need of services not available at MultiCare, we will provide an appropriate referral.

Please have the following information available when you contact us:

  • Contact Information
  • Insurance card
    • Please note: Accepted insurance may vary by location and service. If you are unsure whether your insurance is accepted, please confirm with the access center staff before your assessment or appointment.
  • Referral source
  • Brief explanation of what you are seeking services for
  • List of medications you are taking
  • Guardianship papers if contacting us on behalf of a foster child

Before your first outpatient visit

In preparing for your initial mental health visit, make sure you have your photo identification, insurance card and list of medications.

You will be asked to fill out a packet that includes documents to obtain your consent for services and questionnaires about your health and experiences. You can preview and print the appropriate packet below. These documents are also available during the eCheck-In process for your in-person or virtual assessment appointment. If you are completing these documents during eCheck-In, it may take about 30 minutes.

If you wish to print the packet and complete it prior to your appointment, please do so no more than five days ahead. You can return the forms by:

  • Bringing them with you
  • Fax: 253-697-8393
  • Email: Send a scanned PDF to [email protected]
  • Mail: 325 E. Pioneer, Puyallup, WA 98372
