Healthy Communities

We belong together to elevate community health — our partnerships with local organizations allow us to leverage our strengths, build trust and drive positive change.

Building a healthy future takes the work of everyone in our communities. At MultiCare, we’re committed to partnering with like-minded organizations, leaders and community resources to meet the many needs of our patients and neighbors.

Whether that’s by empowering the next generation of caregivers, bringing health care to new neighborhoods or providing financial support, we’re dedicated to making our communities better places to live.

In 2024, we held a variety of events and partnered with local organizations to uplift community health and well-being:

Career Day showcases many paths in health care for high schoolers

More than 180 students from six Spokane Valley high schools experienced firsthand what a career in health care might look like during MultiCare Valley Hospital’s Career Day.

The day features five hands-on stations, including CPR and “Stop the Bleed” training, emergency triage, an operating room robotic simulation, step-by-step vitals review lesson and behind-the-scenes tour of the hospital.

From the clinical side to imaging, pharmacy and IT, teens saw the many ways they could find their place in health care.

Building stronger, healthier futures with Community Partnership Fund

MultiCare is proud to partner with many community organizations that are making our communities better and providing access to care, support and resources.

Many of these organizations are also recipients of the MultiCare Community Partnership Fund, which awards funds to nonprofit organizations working on initiatives, programs and projects that improve our community. In 2024, we awarded $800,000 to organizations across the Puget Sound, Inland Northwest and Yakima Valley regions.

Bereavement camp helps kids navigate grief, find hope

On a weekend in June each summer, youth ages 6-17 who have lost a significant person in their lives gather at Camp Erin. The free bereavement camp, offered by the Bridges Center for Grieving Children — part of Mary Bridge Children’s — helps kids heal and foster joy amid grief. Since its inception in 2004, the camp has served more than 900 children across Pierce, Kitsap, Thurston and South King counties.

Yakima brings health care to the community

Health care isn’t just about delivering treatments in a clinic or hospital — it’s also about bringing services to the community. In 2024, MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital hosted Fiesta de Salud — in addition to two other health fairs at Loftus Ranches, one of the region’s oldest and largest hop farms — with the goal of reducing health care disparities and promoting well-being.
